Today we are going to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of LCD splicing screens and LED screens, and which scenarios they are more suitable for.
First, let’s analyze their materials
As the name suggests, LCD splicing screen is a display screen composed of liquid crystal molecules and glass. The resolution of a single screen can reach 1920*1080.Its surface is a layer of glass, so the flatness of the entire screen is very good, just like a mirror, combined with its high-definition resolution, so it gives people a very clear visual experience. When four screens are combined together, it can reach a resolution of 3840*2160, which is what we often call 4K ultra-clear resolution.
LED display is a light-emitting diode technology, which uses three primary color lamp chips to package into pixels for display. Therefore, we can see that the early LED display is a very rough surface of beads, often used as outdoor billboards. In recent years, due to the advancement of LED packaging technology, LED screens with smaller pitches have gradually appeared, with finer density and smoother surface than before, such as P2.5 P2 and other finer screens. Even a new packaging technology COB packaging has emerged, which makes its surface as smooth as water, but if you look closely, it is still composed of beads.
2 From the perspective of resolution
The resolution pixel of a single LCD splicing screen can reach 1920*1080, and the combination of 4 screens can reach 3840*2160.
The resolution of the LED screen is calculated based on the number of lamp beads, so theoretically its resolution is infinite, but the number of lamp beads per unit area is limited, so the resolution per unit area is determined by the density of the lamp beads. The smaller the density of the LED screen, the higher its resolution and the better its clarity, but also the higher its cost. The most advanced known distance between two lamp beads is 0.44mm.
3.Gap
The gap of LCD splicing screen refers to the distance between the edges of two screens. The gap of LCD splicing screen is currently: 0.88mm 1.8mm 3.5mm 5.5mm.That is to say, if the whole screen is spliced together, there will be a 0.88/1.8mm/3.5mm/5.5mm black line in the middle.
For LED screens, there is no gap problem. It is the distance between two lamp beads. The smaller the distance, the better it feels to us. The farther the distance, the lower the possibility of seeing the gap. Therefore, it is suitable for long-distance viewing in large places.
4.Usage Environment
LCD splicing screens are often used in indoor meeting rooms, government halls, corporate displays, indoor monitoring rooms, command and dispatch rooms and other indoor places.
LED screens are more widely used because of their waterproof design. Indoor multi-functional lecture halls use screens with small spacing, outdoor billboards use screens with large spacing, welcome screens, and so on.
5.Power and heat comparison.
The power of a single LCD splicing screen is about 180W, and the temperature rises by about 10°-40° after use. It is suitable for close-range use in small rooms.
Since each pixel of the LED screen generates heat, its heat will be higher and its overall power will be larger, making it suitable for long-distance use in large spaces. The power of 9 screens is 180*9=1620W
Calculate the maximum power required for a 9 square meter indoor 5.0 dual-color electronic screen. First, calculate the number of 40A power supplies = 9 (0.244*0.488)/6 = 12.5 = 13 power supplies (must be an integer, the larger one is the standard). Then it is very simple, the maximum power P = 13 * 40A * 5V = 2600W
Summarize
LCD splicing screens are suitable for: indoor meeting rooms, small meeting rooms, monitoring rooms, shopping mall displays, etc., where high clarity is required and gaps are not a problem.
LED screens are suitable for: large conference rooms, exhibition halls, outdoor displays, semi-outdoor places, etc., where there are no requirements for heat and granularity.
LCD Video Walls vs. LED Video Walls how to choose, which one will be better? I want to make a 2*3inch screen, should I choose an LED screen or an LCD screen? pls give us What are your choices?
